I visited Kvazar plant here in Kiev yesterday Smile
They saw my site and invited me to give some CPUs. (the very first soviet CPU flat 48pin K580ИК80 - i8080 clone was made at Kvazar in 1978. Now I have this one dated 7805 - earliest known! ).
The most important - I saw all the production process and have got a lot of info on early soviet CPUs!

Kvazar is still working today (make silicon wafers, solar batteries and chips: micrologics, op amps, 8086 clones+peripheral, MCUs )

No any photos Sad - prohibited.

It's not easy to make a group buy at single CPU in collection and none in trade list Smile
In edition to mentioned CPU they gave me several common plastic CPU/MCUs I (and I guess many of you) already have.
But I've got alot of INFO!!! Smile

I've worked in fab 20 for a year and I've never heard about a museum. Wonder where they're hiding it?

Oh, I'm pretty sure a tour will be out of the question too, unless you have someone on the inside that can get you into the building as a visitor and get the approval to give you a window tour.

From what i can tell you are correct, it is very difficult to get a tour. I've got one scheduled next week but I don't know what it is going to involve.

If you're making the chipset for my new motherboard, make sure to connect all the wires Wink

Well you'd better get in there before it closes anyhow.

'icon_chainsaw' You know I will Wink

This was one of the reasons I wanted to go, kind of sad it is closing since it has been around for so long. And of course the hard times it puts on Intel employees.

I'll report back in two weeks on how it goes.
