The 386 chips through Pentium Pro fit great if you don't put foam in there.

Here is another early entry into the chip storage contest. These are some of my favorite chips. The lid of the table is hinged and opens. I like to mix up my two silicon collections. If you look closely, near the bottom of the case, you will see some of the earliest pre-historic "silicon chips" known. They were created by hand before mass chip production was possible. I like the contrast with the more modern chips.

Yep - the artifacts are real. The two on the left side of the close-up pic are personal field finds. The one on the right is a purchase. In college myself, and one of my best friends, an anthropology magor, would spend hours on the weekends walking up and down plowed farmer's fields after a fresh rain looking for these. We would find a thousand flakes for every artifact. The flakes were the little pieces of flint that were removed from the rough rock to sculpt the artifact. The flakes were the first clues that you were in an area where you might find an artifact. Of course, finding a whole artifact was even more rare, as the plow tended to break them across the years, but the plowed fields provide large areas of free (and legal) excavated area to search.

I love the table idea! I would vote for that being the best entry as soon as we start that competition
Hey OrBit,
I have a couple 8008 chips
Here is a close up: http://www.vintagechiptrader.com/Intel%201970/8008.htm
I know a guy with a X8008 and I had made a deal to buy it but he backed out on me at the last moment

I don't know if it's just me, but that AMD Mech sample you have actually makes the set up look better!
Do you have 2 or 1? If you have 2, you can pick what you like out of my collection for it |

Not until I have exhausted every means of trying to get it myself. The last thing we talked about was the possibility of him listing it on Ebay. This is after I offered him $1000 for it and another 8008-1. I am currently makeing offers again but haven't heard anything back yet.
Oh yeah chipcollector, I seen your idea for storage but I think that Metalmaker's table might have you beat. Not to worry though as that competition won't start for another 8 days!
8 days left on this thread!
If anyone has more than 1330 CPUs they should speak up as the CPU Shack looks like he is going to have 1331
