|

Hi.
Last time I have bought an Athlon XP-M 2800+ (AXMJ2800FHQ4C). I also bought an Abit NF7-S v2.0 mainboard. But the CPU doesn't work as it should. It is very unstable on all fsb/ratio settings. I checked it on 100x6 1,6v , 133x16 1,6v and 166x13,5 1,7v& 1,725v. On all this settings windows runs, but i can't run some programs, because of crashes, and the 3d objects in games are deformed. (some games doesn't even run, or the computer resets when i try to run them) On the Prime95 tests, in the first 'test number', test stops. On my old mobo (GA-7VA) it was so too. I don't know what should i do now. Is it possible, that thoes unstabilities are caused by damaged CPU? Or they are caused by wrong settings?
Here is a screenshot of Prime95 and CPU-Z when the error appeared

I will be wery thankful for any kind of help.
Thanks.
ps. Sorry for my english |

Propably overheating or damaged core - chipped. Clean core from thermal paste and check if it is complete or damaged. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

| I checked, it's not damaged. The CPU temp. is ok too (~30-40*C). |

Maybe reinstall the OS can solve the problem. _________________ Yan |

If you are getting artifacts in games, have you tried checking the video card?
Maybe that's it...
Look for "video card stress test", if it doesn't pass could be what I suggested. |

I tested it on same PSU, RAM was also the same.

No, it's not the video card I'm runnig now on my old CPU, Athlon XP 2400+, and everything is stable and works fine.
I asked some people on polish forums, one guy told me to make a 'wire mod' or something like that. He sad, that these CPU's are theoretically the best CPU's for O/C, but because of that they are blocked or something (or only few mobos can run it). And after this mod it should work (he had a such CPU, and it worked.) (dunno he's cpu ID. Maybe its the Desktop Replacement version) This CPU is the best 'Mainsteam' version, and it has 1,55v vcore only. Maybe he's right. But, he doesn't remember, which pins should be connected. But he will let me know, when he finds some schemes. What do you think?
//EDIT
I gived the CPU to my friend, he's a IT spec. He will test it on few mobos (also mobile mobos). He will maybe also check the 'wire mod'. We'll see. |
