|
|
Hi everyone,
This is my virgin post
I've gotten hold of 2 working Pentium 3 mobile chips
(or at least I was led to believe they are such )
Here are the markings that I can on the top side of the chip
1) 7204B302 SL64Y
RH80530 1200/512
2) L238A711 SL6DR
RH80534PC037512
From the Intel website, I cross checked photos and they appear
to be 478 or 479 Micro FCPGA chips
What is strange is that both S-specs are not listed on Intel's processor spec page so what do I have in my hands?
I did a google and only managed to find information for the 1st chip, SL64Y. Several online stores seem to have SL64Y available for sale.
but I tried it on a working notebook but it doesn't work.
The second chip is a complete mystery.
Google bears no indication on the class and type/spec of the chip
Has anyone encountered such a chip?
I'll try to post up some pics once I have my camera back |

Part number RH80530GD009512. If I'm not mistaken the package is a 478-pin micro-FCPGA2.

It's probably mobile Pentium 4, 1.9 GHz, 400 MHz FSB, 512 KB L2 cache. I'm not sure about the package, maybe it's the same micro-FCPGA2 (RH prefix).
Intel does have one or two references on their website to these processors, but not in the processor finder.

It could be dead.

Thanks for the info
I did a search on Intel's webby but nothing came out.
Could you share the link or let me know the search string you used?
Looking at Intel's product information, they don't mention
anything about the markings/code on the cpu itself?
Is there some reference for these code?
RH80534PC037512 and RH80534PC037512
Gotten my camera back so will post up pics once I get home
I know this sounds obvious but is there some other way to quickly
test if a chip is dead? |

http://developer.intel.com/design/pcn/Processors/D0102953.pdf
This document also contains other S-Spec numbers that are not in Intel processor finder.

This information is often mentioned in specification updates. Quick way to get to those is to search for "<model> specification update site:intel.com" (for example "Pentium 4 specification update site:intel.com").

I don't know, I've never seen a good reference on Intel part numbers, except for older parts (Pentium II and older). I was trying to come up with identification information myself, I have maybe 50% of work done, but due to lack of time I won't be able to finish it any time soon. This is what I have so far:
RH - package type for OEM processors, boxed processors have BX here.
80534 - processor architecture
P - I have no idea, it could be processor voltage (normal, low, ultra low, etc).
C - bus speed
037 - processor speed. For processors slower than 1 GHz Intel used actual processor speed in MHz, for 1 GHz and faster processor they use numbers that identify processor speed. To roughly estimate processor speed in MHz you can use this formula: (number + 39) * 25, or number *100 / 4 + 975
512 - L2 cache size.

Sorry for the terrible delay as I've been involved in a difficult project.

Hey nice chip! Is it for sale or trade? Let me know ahead of time if yes, my email is paul@samash.net.
Thanks |

the sl6dr is definately a p4m, the core is way too big to be much else imo
as for the sl64y id guess its a p3-m, since a pentium m would have 1mb l2 cache.. not 512
as for the third one, its very odd looking, especially the intel logo |

its not FS or FT at the moment as I'm still trying to figure out if it works.
I'll send you an email once I work out something |

the 3rd one is a weird thing
The s-spec is actually SL3XL (picture doesnt show very clearly)
Intel's website references it as a P3-667 and not a P3-866
On post, BIOS and CPUid detects it as a 866 though.
I took a pic because this is the 1st FC-PGA i've seen with an IHS
(even the p3-s 1.4ghz Tualatins did not have this big an IHS) |

maybe its remarked then
if it was a legitimate intel chip id imagine it would have a better intel logo |
