The images on the front page are a bit heavy for its size. If you, like me are on the other side of the Atlantic they load a bit slow. Its nothing that is to slow, but its noticeable. I attached a example below. Your thumbnail is 150kb and if i save it as a jpg with the compression factor to 15 (out of 100) it becomes four times smaller and still has what i think, the same quality.

Also the large images of your chips are on the heavy side. For example the NATIONAL SEMI IMP16 SET.jpg are 1870kb. The image are 750x2320 pixels but you only show ~331x1024 on the screen, resizing it with html. If i save it with the size you show it, it becomes only 73kb, 25 times smaller and then 25 times faster to load without losing quality.

So my recommendation, re-save the images as jpgs with a bit of compression and save the large images in the actual size they are displayed. That would make the page load a bit faster.

Its nothing that makes the page not viewable, but its a bit annoying watching the 1702 load like images did when i was on my 33.6k modem.

Thanks for the input guys, To begin with I am in the progress of rescanning all my chips in a slightly smaller and uniformed dpi instead of how they are now with varieties of scan quality, with an extremely uniform backround. I noticed as I was adding pics that no matter how straight I put them on the page they still are all crooked, as a result of my scanning them to begin with. I also have adjusted the saved jpegs to the suggested compressions and it should make for an overall better looking and faster loading shot of each chip. The changes are not up yet on the site but they will be sooner or later. Keep all this great input coming as it really helps me alot. Thanks

Nice job, Carl.

Your site looks very professional and it now loads fast!
The pictures are great except the dark chips don't show off as well with the black background.
White chips look good with the dark background though. Wink
Congrats!

Hi,
your site looks great!
The BOARDS section is very nice. IMHO the best is the Tektronix card with Motorola MC2901 chips. Great card!

I have now added a page with just Wafers on it, along with adding some new chips and boards and doing some more organising of the catagories. Hope ya like it. Very Happy
Oh yea and be aware that the scans of the wafers are very large, and the pics next to them are just large. If you right click on the scans and choose to open them in a seperate window they will show at full scan size. Shocked

LOts of new updates to just about everything, New Ram , ROm, Prom, Micro controllers ect...
Ive also begun to break up the chips in families to make it eaisier to browse a particular catagory.
Area 51 has alot of new names on it as well as being listed in alpha numerical order to make identifying names easier. Very Happy
Now im up to 550 chips posted with the majority of them being Intels.
Enjoy and of course suggestions are welocme. Wink

You have an Intel DX4-100 on your AMD page.

The chip next to it is DS91036. What kind of chip is that?

You have a lot of wafers! Those are really nice.

FIxed that Dx4 chip on the wrong page Thanks and good eye.
I do not know yet what exactly that ds91036 is , I see a couple available from chip brokers, but no descriptions on what it is. Cant seem to find it in the data sheet archives either.
