when i try to use flash MX or any other application that uses a lot of cpu power (like seti@home) my computer just shuts down. when it turns off, the cpu temp is at 47 deg. C and the system temp is at 44 deg C.
what can i do to stop this from happening?
Specs:
CPU= AMD Athlon XP 2400+ 2GHz
Chipset= Nvidia nForce2 IGP/MPC
video card= 8x Nvidia GeForce 5500
Memory= 512MB DDR 333Mhz
(2 case fans...intake and exhaust, factory installed chipset fan, original heatsink/fan that came with the cpu is installed...runs at about 4444 RPM)
Thanks |

| 47 is full load (can only run there for about 5 minutes) otherwise it idles at 37. do you still recamend a new heatsink? |

well it wouldnt hurt the cpu can take up to around 70c though
try running it with the side of the case off, and with a fan aimed inside. if it still does it, its likely not heat, and you may want to try giving the cpu more voltage. or it could be something entirely different |

HA
If you're cpu is cool, it can take up to 82C ( Max load at 4.02GHZ) , like mine
Now is that a heavy stressload or what? |

First you need a new thermal sensor because it seems that yours is quite bad...
Then, maybe a new heatsink too... |

i dont recall the voltage for a thoroughbred, but i think a barton is 1.65v, so you may want to up the voltage a little.
also if the chipset fan has died, thats a definate problem. you'll probably want to replace it.

check that page, i dont know if they ship to you but it should give you a good idea of whats out there. if they do ship to you, ive bought from them several times without any problem (and they even do C.O.D)..
you may want to get a larger fanless heatsink, so you don't end up with a dead fan again |
