I ran CPU-Z to get information about my laptop. It has a Celeron M530 (Conroe-L), Socket 479 mPGA. The site lists lots of information about this chip family, but it is unclear on which CPU can be dropped in as a replacement to get a speed boost without changing the motherboard and/or memory. Which particular CPU's will work as an upgrade?
I'm unable on my own to determine which CPU and sockets are compatible? Thanks!  |

Which processor you can upgrade to depends on your existing motherboard, and not on your existing CPU. You can make some assumptions on what processor may be supported based on your current CPU, but these assumptions could be incorrect. From your description is not clear what type of socket you have. There were versions of Celeron M 530 for socket M and socket P.

The motherboard is a Toshiba Model IAKAA v1.00. Intel i943/940GML Rev. 3. The BIOS is Toshiba, v1.60 dated 7/5/2007. |

I'm looking to upgrade my processor as well. I've got the Toshiba A135-7403.
CPU-Z reports i943/940GML for me as well. Judging on some reading done at an acer forum for laptops based on the same chipset I think an upgrade should be possible. The top canidates were the T2080, the T5300 and the T7200. I'm still in the research phase but if I make any moves I'll try to remember to report them here so others can find them. |

| I doubt it will take much higher than a T5500, for thermal reasons. |

| Just thought I would pop back in and update my progress. I installed a T7200 about 2 months ago and it's been running perfect ever since. The performance gain is noticeable and it was definitely a worthwhile upgrade. |

Just wanted to chip in; just installed a t7200 into my a135-s4666 notebook, is running good so far. Runs much cooler than the original t2080 that was in it. Core Temp is showing both cores staying around 47C for general web browsing.

T7200 has a clock speed of 2.0GHz with a 667MHz fsb.

Hi,
I have a laptop with T7200 with intel 945PM chipset running 667Mhz FSB.
What speed is your cpu running at? check with cpu-z please.
Does this then mean that you can take a higer speed FSB cpu and put into a lower speed FSB motherboard as long as the sockets are the same?
I want to replace my T7200 with P8800 of same sockets. I have found one and the shop promises that it will fit and should work but since the P8800 uses 1066Mhz FSB, he was'nt sure about what speed the cpu then would run at and if that would even give me any benefits.
Maybe not worth spending too much money on this upgrade.
Hope you can clarify this.

| Hello, I just wanted to let you know that the chipset you are running will only support up to the T-7200. Anything else will end up running at a lower clock speed because of the higher FSB used in anything above the T-7200. |
