And the Internet gives nothing.
If it ia a name...

yah its the initials of the engineers, a pretty common practice.

Nope, FFTHMS or so should then be there.
Or the official version is a lie.

Ans maybe this the reason why no die pictures are anywhere in the net.

FFTHMS, so probably an 8080 Smile

Other people that put initials on were the mask layout people

ok, here we go:

TI might be Tom Innes
JO might be Joe Friedrich
EL no idea

The chip is the 4040

The pictures are far from being perfect, I have the microscope since yesterday and as there is no focus function besides changing the distance it is pretty hard to get good shots, lol.

to be serious, Tom Innes for TI seems to be sure (a stupid wikipedia search returned he worked on it - ok, though this is the only source - but what a coincidence)
