I think your right. It's not like they made a 166 into a 200 MHZ. It is more like they just made a 166 into a more attractive 166. I lifted the lid on one of them and you can see the chip die laid in there. I don't understand why they would do this as it looks like it would be quite expensive to gold plate the entire chip Question

The guy sent me another email this morning wanting to do some more trading Shocked I think I have had enough Rolling Eyes

Except many of these are 200s or 233s marked as 266s and 300s.

That's not correct! The Jaton says the correct CPU (386DX-40), these Chinese fakes have higher clock printed on the top, than is inside!

I guess I have some nice fake CPUs! Confused So you all know, I got them from tianchao AT pub.nt.jsinfo.net (modified for the email bots) I don't think he meant to rip me off but I would have liked to have known that Intel didn't make them...

It's something remarked by Taiwan manufacturer for laptops, kind of more than normal remarking, at least they look different, not just pretend to be another existing CPU. It has some collection value depending on how you think of it. I'd like to have one piece if possible, but for a C8008 it's too much. In any circumstance I won't trade C8008 with Pentium MMX.

do you remember the white 386 PGA thread - and the explosion of fake images?
What kind of fake chips do you want? what package? which colour? Gold, silver, platinum? Blue, red or yellow?
I know some chemists and a goldsmith.
And I work in a publishing house with many good connections to printing companies.
When you think fake chips may be worth some Dollars tell me what you want and I'll make hundreds for you.

fake is fake, selling them is thievery and b***sh**.
Collecting them, ok, there are also criminal museums in the world;-)

To be serious, all mentioned above is true just I will never make fake chips!

Beware, don't create a demand.

Anybody out there want to buy a purple "Three Pence Post Office"?

the fake images thread was done on purpose though, and it was obvious that they were being photoshopped for that thread (something id love to do again, but no one here seems to like it much!)

if someone wants to take those pics and try to sell them to someone, thats going to be a problem anyhow since they wont actually have a chip like that. they could easily photoshop their own, or else simply tell you 'oh yea its a 386 on white ceramic' and not give you a pic....

They are still different from what you call blue or white CPUs somehow. They were made for actual usage, not for appearance.

hi,
the guys above talk about this fake Pentium cpus more.
until now I know that these cpus are fake manufactured by some factories in northern of Taiwan(http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1396).that means we mainland of CHINA were used more and more computers with these fake cpus in 90's last century.
How we know that at that time!
