I contacted the owner of this site about some beautiful Amdahl boards he had in his collection and this is the reply I got back.
"no sorry all cpu gone - turned into gold = worth more than current value, and cant wait 30 years. sorry"

If he choose to sell them to collectors, he could get more. He is just lacking of communication with other collectors, feel lonely and lost apathetic for collecting. too bad & sad thing! _________________ My vintage CPU collection:www.cpumuseum.com

Yes sad to see (hear) something like this but maybe I am going to do something similar too, and I will do that for different reasons.
I will do that because I live in jail (read; in Serbia) and there is no point to collect anything here. _________________ www.chipmuseum.com |

I don't see the point...
Maybe I don't understand well, but even if I was living in afghanistan, as long as I have an internet access (which, I admit, may not be that easy...) I would have the same link with the community here. Maybe we should do a poll, but I don't think many members here already met IRL, even if they are living in the same country !
BTW, what is so terrible in Serbia ?

@g0b
BTW, what is so terrible in Serbia ?
It is impossible to explain in just few words or sentences... but isolation (since '90s) produced corruption (in business, in politic, in every single aspect of life), criminal and drug is everywhere, amorality, people killing each other at streets because of sport (do you believe?), unemployment... everything is upside down...
Long time ago I have found my exit from all of that, yes, it was internet, my job is related to internet too and this was the way to kip it up... but you know, life is little more than internet... I'll give you some examples;
- if you want that your wife give a birth safely you need to pay 500-1000 Eur. (corruption at this level... what else to tell you...)
- if you are french who come to support his football club in Belgrade you could be killed (Brice Taton)
- if you have umbrella with "wrong" logo (b92) you risking to be beaten
- if you are expert but don't belong to politic party you will not get the job
- if you ask police for protection you'll get the answer; "solve this yourself" or "change address"
- if you try to send few boards or chips you are suspicious, and custom officer trying to resolve are you a smuggler or you are an enemy of the state
... I can go like this whole day... but don't have time and I don't want to bother you with my problems...

You bet!
@g0b & CPUShack
Probably not the worst country to live in the world, but definitely not in my Top10 destinations for holiday Smile
Not necessary true. Like CPUShack told you; if you like night life, cheep drugs, easy girls and if you want to take a risk... there is no better place in the world.
Aside all what I told you... Serbia don't exist just last 20 years and I love my country, there is good people here... like everywhere in the world but the problem is that those people still can not have normal life...
20 year of isolation... is long time. I think we need another 20 just to get back where we are before (regarding morality, corruption, criminal... and not to talk about industry, technology etc.)
Well, i have just one life and... 20 years of isolation + 20 to get back in normal life... it is little too much. I am not sure jet what I am going to do... _________________ www.chipmuseum.com |

Yes, that sounds bad and from a German perspective it is easy to say.
But anyhow, you have not been killed 20 years ago.
Hopefully your wife GAVE birth to a healthy baby
And people in Serbia do not have to care much about clean water or food in general.
Serbian kids do not die of noma.
=> Want to say: you make a good job out of your life.
You found a way to handle the situation.
You have a job.
You have a hobby:-)
You are that crazy guy that found those fantastic boards!
You have that C4002-2 grey traced!
And as long as no serbian sniper knows that it will not be stolen.
Good luck to you and your family! |
