|
|
i recently won an auction for a k6, and the seller sent me this as a picture of it:
i dont think ive seen any like this before.. usually if the logo isn't black, its etched with hollow letters, and that looks like the lettering is white
has anyone seen any of these before?
i hope its not just thermal grease baked onto the letters, lol |

well i was going to post that i received the chip now and had scanned it, but it looks like i deleted the original pic and uploaded the scan in its place!
so, the pic in the first post is the scan of it.
its very awesome!
and it works, too! |

it feels and looks raised, but it could be very light etching.
ill get a very high dpi scan of it in a moment
heres the highest res scan my scanner will do.. (at least through scanner and camera wizard)
honestly im not sure about it.. i think i see patterns in it, so it may be lightly etched, just filled in instead of the hollow logo thats usually there..
i guess one way to find out would be to try to scratch the logo off, but ill be damned if im doing that. |

And you're the only two that have a 200 I wonder what's the story behind it. Did AMD just try something different maybe to save ink costs? I have a standard 166 that only differs in the letters behind the datecode (C 9738EPPW standard, C 9738GP4W engraved), so it's not a special stepping or version. _________________ ..::morkork::..

I got an odd K6-200 too. It's also a "white logo" K6, but obviously not the same kind of yours. The logo is not engraved, but kind of very fade printing. only visible at some angle. I almost think it's a common K6-200 with black printing erased. But it has an odd spec number 25910 on the left-bottom, not 25755 or 26031 as usual.
