Is it possible to run dual monitors on a laptop that has a fairly good VGA card? I have an intel 256 mb onboard VGA card. Im able to run a monitor to extend the desktop onto another monitor but i want to be able to close the lid to my laptop and have two monitors. I try to enable the second monitor but it doesnt show up as a monitor extended from my desktop? What do i do, I tryed advanced settings and that doesnt work. Im using a y splitter could this be the problem, can you not run duals on a laptop?

If you are using an Y splitter, the other screen behaves as the integrated one.
If you have a vga output, you can either replicate your main screen on it or run it as extended.
If you want to have screen 1 + Y (screen2 extended + screen 3 other stuff) it won't work.
All you can do is screen 2 either replicated or extended. Other issues you should do your homework and see if at Intel's site they can provide any information. Not that difficult... nahhh. |

Depends on the laptop.
My laptop has dual outputs, thats what you need.
Your other option is to use a USB->DVI converter, they work fairly well if your laptop is fairly quick. _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
