It definetly looks like and "II" at first glance. But...it isn't.

When I saw it I thought it was a II as well.

Also, what is true:
- A socket 7 connector has 321 holes.
- A MediaGX is using all of these holes (or close to it).
- A "normal" CPU like an MII does'n use all of these holes.
So physically both fit in the socket, but electrically they are different.
It's simple to see, a MediaGX has 5 rows of pins all around it while an MII has 2 rows with 4 pins...

so i guess ill list it as 321 pin pga.. unless i could actually boot it from a socket 7 board?
also i cant say where i got the chip from and i dont think theres anymore left anyhow... |

Media GX which were made by Cyrix need special Socket. It is the same history like Nexgen. GXm get in SS7 but he will not work - I tested them. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |
