I agree. we live in a 24 time-zone world and, those in certain time zones would have a constant advantage over other members based on the times Gob listed chips for sale.
Auction takes more waiting to see if you won, but since this is a worldwide offering, I think an Auction is the fairest way for all. (unless "Superfred" becomes a member!) 
I voted on the poll from Windmiller.

This brings back up the idea of closing our little community to price hunting Ebayers. In this situation we are our own worst enemies. I really think this is something to be considered. I think to benefit from the sales and pricing threads you should be a contributing member to our community!!! Just my opinion but I have been wanting to voice this for some time because I think we are paying too much for chips. Chip collecting is still small and we should have better influence on pricing. While I know the price of gold is nothing we can influence but the rest we can.
I think poll might be in order for not only locking down Gob's sale to current members but also locking down the Sale & Group Buy forums where prices are discussed. Of course the rules for Gob's sale are up to him and the admin but a Poll would be interesting either way.

Maybe set a general rule of thumb that auction type sales must only be done when a very large quantity of chips is being offered. I dont think we see many sales with over 500 chips in them

G0B: remember to get the pictures of every chip from the seller if possible when dealing with the him otherwise you might have to take photos one by one.
After you finished and get what you want, then let us do the massive bidding in debs's way? Or every one bid via PM?

Well done G0b. To have a couple of whole collections sold in a couple of months is quite amazing. Count me in for the sale process for any chips you don't want.

1/ Someone interested in one chip creates a topic for it (e.g. Pentium Pro 150 non ES ) :
I'm interested in it. There are X pcs ...
2/ The moderator (an other person !) sets the time for the auction.
3/ We go on
I think it will take less time for g0b and for the moderators.

There are 619 pcs in collection. Gob need around 15. Suppose we want 100-200pcs
That's mean 100-200 topics ?!?!
What about rest chips ?
I think sale style like Debs did is the best for both sides. |

I like that.
You could set a tentative expected end time, but if somebody bids just before the end time (snipe), then the end time is extended by 10 minutes. If there is another bid, then another 10 minutes from that bid, and continue in this manner until there are no more bids.
So there is a "rolling" end time, the highest bid wins, and no sniping. |

Yeah, that was what I was calling "1 hour rule" . If a bid occurs let's say less than 1 hour before the end, auction is extended of 1 hour starting from this last bid. usually, it's more 15 minutes. Most auctions sites feature this (except ebay, for a reason I've never understood).
