I am upgrading my motherboard and cpu and I am wondering if adding sata drives will make a speed difference or just keep my old ide hard drives and dvd drives for the time being. Will I be able to transfer data between harddrives and dvd drives if the they are sata 2 compared to ide drives.

If I posted in the wrong section, my apologizes.

The access times should be faster and since most of the newer hard drives have larger caches on them you should see higher bandwith thoroput , you will see a real good difference if you set them up in a raid configuration. Very Happy
