I have a Palomino 1900+ and tried to put in a Barton 2800+, got nothing when I pushed the power button, changed back to Palomino, worked great, Barton again, nothing, back to Palomino, OK. Shouldn't it do something so I could at least get in the bios to change the clock speed or whatever? I actually thought it would auto detect it all, but this made me wonder...of course the Barton could just be dead...NOTHING happens no fans, etc.
AK37gt mobo and it says the Barton AXDA2800DKV4D is supported per the cpu-upgrade site. |

board only supports 200 & 266 FSB processors
AXDA2800DKV4D is 333
you need a AXDxx00DKVxC part
go to this page and click FSB 266MHz button for list of parts
EDIT >> just found updated specs.. seemly can take 333 FSB
so more likely the CPU is dead or you have a very old bios version

| I am running the BIOS (Phoenix) Award v6.00PG listed in the link you posted, which as you stated shows the mobo supports a166/333 FSB. It should auto-detect a cpu change, correct? I mean I don't think I would have to clear the CMOS before rebooting with the new cpu, would I? After flip-flopping the cpus and finally letting it boot on the palomino it did say the cpu has changed and to check the bios settings were correct; although, since I got absolutely nothing with the Barton I'm not sure why it thought there was a change...maybe just the fact that it did detect nothing and interpreted that as a change?! |
