Only thing on the bottom of it is two capital "E"s right next to each other..

I was wondering if something like this is just an empty package with the lid on, or is there a die in there, and it failed testing, so they just stamped it as ES, Mech and went with that..

The Mech marking is post production.. so with what markings are on the top I would suggest that a die was included but failed testing

It's cool there's probably a die in there, even if it might only be good for 8MHz.. Wink

the very earliest production was 12MHz
but guessing most boards can only run 16MHz & higher
