metal cap removal

I have an ibm power6 cpu. And i cant remove the metal cap... Any idea on how to do that?

Which Power6? MCM? Ceramic single die? Organic?

Not mcm
Big metal cap. Coveres 95% of cpu.

If it is the same as mine I did the following.

Drill small hole in a corner of the heatsink from top.
Insert a machine screw in hole which is larger.

As you thread down the screw (flat bottom) it will not break ceramic but lift the metal cap off.

If you lived near me I'd do it for you Smile

Same method did NOT go well with an organic version Sad I dented it lol

managed to get it off finally!
I used a super sharp thin knife to cut the thermoglue.
