Hi, I have a couple of chips marked only 1818-nnnn (where nnnn is any 4-digit-number), some 1818-nnnn-nnnn and two chips 1820-nnnn.
Most come from old HP Boards.
My only information is that 1818 was a marking for custom ROMs and 1820 for controllers.
Does anybody know more?

It could be.

My impression was 1820-xxx was used for logic, peripheral chips, microcontrollers and microprocessors. At least I've got this impression when I looked for data for this page:

http://www.cpu-world.com/info/HP-parts.html

Finding any information on HP chips is next to impossible Sad

1818- or 1820-xxxx can refer to almost anything. Here's another HP cross-reference guide:

The 1818-2508 is a KDP (Keyboard Display Printer) chip used in HP 9825 calculators.
