|
|
Hi, I encountered a very strange problem when sharing internet by ADSL.
My server has two net adapter cards installed.
One card is connected to ADSL modem and the other net card is connected to a HUB which connecting more computers in LAN.
The ADSL modem has a telephone line connected to my local ISP.
Now the problem is :
It works great without connecting to HUB.
But once the RJ45 is pluged into to the HUB, then the internet becomes unavailable immdiately.
Who can give me some advice.
It is very annoying. I googled but found no lukcy solution.
Thanks in advance!

Go out and spend $20 on a cascading hub, plug youre dsl into the hub and all the rest of the machines into the hub and all problems will be solved. I would guess that the host server is getting confused in which network it should be connecting to. But I am not a networking expert. I have however had up to 8 machines hooked into one cascading network hub and they all connect directly to the internet with there own internal IP numbers without any trouble. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." Sorry, I dont make it clear.
My server act as a proxy server, and all other computers in LAN is via this proxy server to internet. _________________ My vintage CPU collection:www.cpumuseum.com

Than maybe you need to enable internet sharing on the host machine. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E. |

I installed a Proxy server software to provide internet sharing so I needn't to enable the built-in internet sharing function of windows XP. _________________ My vintage CPU collection:www.cpumuseum.com

you can redirect command output to a file "route PRINT > c:\route.txt" and insert content of c:\route.txt here.
I suspect that you have the wrong default route. |

Faber's suggestion is most helpful. I fixed the problem using "route" cmd to modify the routing tabel
