It's probably not related to Pentium Pro. The date code is way too late for any early P6.

I first tough it was related to a very early Merced development because they started to work on ia64 in 1994 (match the '94 copyright) but the Merced lead package architect confirmed the first working silicon has been tapped-out in q3'98 while the first tests packages came in q2'97. That's still one year too late for this sample. :-/

The pattern is different as there is much more logic on this one (and much less SRAM). And one source at Intel confirmed that this one is unrelated to P6.
