Nice chips you have there, funny how the grey zebra is the newest of the three, i always thought the grey and whites were the older style of them. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E. |

a set, he got a SET!
omg, what's going on in china?
pretty nice, I like the one with GroundStrap and "5".
btw, I also have no idea why many chips in different packages have same markings.
There are more chips in different packaging and same marking out there.
A good example are the 8080's that are marked CS.
All eyamples I know are chipped.
So I think all samples that got chipped in the production process were stored separately and when Intel decided to make cheap unicersity kits they took these.
Maybe those 4004's were produced at different times at different places, shipped to Intel and stored somewhere. When they were needed for sale they were printed.
That's the only reason I can imagine. _________________ You may use the photos I have posted here under CC BY-NC-SA license. |

I agree. 1976 seems late for a C4004 to still be in production?
...and they are the first C4004's to learn to swim! |

Hmmm....all the lids have the print exactly in the same position on the lid and all have the second zero in C4004 weakly printed...yet all manufactured in a different country?
Did all these come from the same source?

The bottom print (country) is done first (when the chip is produced).
The print on the lid is/was often done later.
I have many chips with different date codes on top and bottom.
All those chips have the earlier date code on bottom.
That's why I am sure my theory (yes, theory) is correct.
I do not have a proof for it.
When the lid print wad done at eg. the headquarter where all chips got delivered to from several production places it doesn't matter where the plant was. |

Sure, they are same source, but not same time , my friend sell the IC more than 10 years, his credit does not doubt, but I think he don't know the actual value of C4004. _________________ Webmaster of China Collector's Site
