This Intel Pentium 233MMX has S-Spec SY27S. The similar S-Spec SL27S is often seen for this processor.
This one boots and identifies as expected.
Is this a new S-Spec, or fake processor, or misprint, or something else? |

Another thing that is unsual is all SY spec has SY0xx.
I do not see a single other SY spec that does not have a 0 after the prefix.
The printing looks bad, especially the 5's
CPUID is 0543h or 2543h ?
That is not much help, as SL23W for example as the same cpuid 0543h or 2543h.
So the only thing left is to visual examine and maybe perform a heat test between a known good 233Mhz and this one. Maybe also an overclocked 200.
So.. if it is fake, then it has to be a lower speed uprated.. if it is not fake, then it could be anything??? |

Looks fake to me. Markings on the bottom are very poorly done. Matrix code, "Intel Pentium", and "w/ MMX tech" text looks black. Are they really black, or they only look black on the picture?

I'd say fake too. The print looks dodgy, "H" looks a lot too narrow, "A" looks like it has straight legs (compared to 'triangle' type normal ones). _________________ Power without the price. |

cpuid=0543, and I don't remember ever seeing 2543 for a pentium

Gennadiy | You mean the heatspreader side? That is not black, it is silver metal - looks the same as others.
The writing on the pin side appears engraved on all of the pentiums, as I can feel the bumps with my fingernail. However, SY27S engraving seems deeper than the SL27S.
I begin to suspect it is fake. In the side-by-side comparison, notice:
1. the right side of p in "pentium" is curved inwards.
2. all of the 8's have smaller top lobe than bottom lobe; in a real pentium, the top and bottom lobes of 8's are the same size. |
