Hi.

I have a problem.
My motherboard ETEQ-386 supports:

386DX : http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/80386/Intel-A80386DX-33%20IV.html.

and a coprocessor

Weitek 3167 : http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/3167/Weitek-3167-033-GCU.html.

I bought this coprocessor ULSI : http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/80387/ULSI-US83C87-C%2040.html.

So, according to the handbook i can mount a Weitek 3167 or a Intel 80387..... but.... the first has 121 pins (like the motherboard's socket).... the second 68....
Can I mount the ULSI coprocessor?

thanks a lot:)

bye

You need a EMC-socket to mount both FPU's.

.... ummm... maybe i've not understood well....

If the EMC-socket has 121 pin, my motherboard has one. So i can put a 68 pns coprocessor?

thanks

Yes EMC takes normal 387 and Weitek + compatibles. I have an adapter, to use both at the same time.

Hi fRaSsL, i'm Bouba Smile

I've a problem...
I've tried to mount the ULSI coprocessor and start the system, but the system doesn't recognize it.
So, (in the bios) i've tried to change the voice "Weitek processor" from Absent to Present. After reboot, the system recognize a Weitek coprocessor.... but i've installed an 80387 coprocessor (ULSI...).
It's right or not?
My motherboard is a MS-3121, i havn't the manual.... i must change a determinate jumper?

thanks a lot

bye Smile

Use 87test.exe:

http://www.funet.fi/pub/msdos/Simtel/emulate/87test.zip

It can test 80x87 but not Weitek.

The problem is that my motherboard support Weitek coprocessor and Intel 80387 coprocessor, but in the bios appear only Weitek....

Hi, I'm Bouba Very Happy

chipcollector i've tried 87test. The program give me this error: coprocessor not installed or improperly installed.... Sad.

Anyone has mounted a coprocessor, has had to change some jumpers? Or only mounted the coprocessor and the system has recognized the coprocessor alone?

thanks
