Appearance somewhat like NEC MR-4401.

the ES marking on NECs does not mean Engineering sample, just in case you are not aware

I agree with you that it is the early version or testing version of mr-4401 CPU.

Wiki says nec enter the MIPS 4400 market in mid1995 so I have such guess.

its The early i have see Around ..yes .....
but not Proof of ES .....yet Smile

Nice McModule indeed ....im Still HAve here MIne With some diferent Capacitors ...resistors On the top ...
