No idea about the IBM Chip but the LSI Logic chip is:

So LSI chip with "L1A" is a GPU.

This LSI chip was on Compaq SCSI controllers, so I doubt it's a GPU. It's probably a SCSI controller chip.

L1A just means LSI Logic, ASIC chip, it can be anything. Smile

Right, but if a SCSI controller has only one big L1A9162 chip, it is logical to assume that the chip performs functions of a SCSI controller chip.

haha yah sorry didnt mean it wasnt a SCSI chip, I was trying to say that L1A didnt mean graphics. Smile
