Hey I'm setting up a general CPU database, and im looking for help filling in the gaps. My goal is to cover all variants of the various CPU, MCU, DSP, FPU, ALU, etc.
I set it up as a GIT repository, so anyone can sign-up edit it, and anyone can view it. I made database as comma-seperated-value spreadsheets, so it can be edited using Excel, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, or text editor.
Ive wrote down allot of the details in the README file.
https://github.com/zymos/cpu-db/blob/master/README.txt
Here is the database

Let me know what you think. If you're interested it helping out, I can help you out in getting started.
Thanks

Perhaps, but i havn't seen any complete wheels liying around, only bits and pieces.
http://www.cpu-world.com/ isn't open, has gaps in its collection and its data and is not user editable.
http://www.chipdb.org/ only really has pictures
http://cpudb.stanford.edu/ is close but not user editable
I initially started this because i wanted a list of variants for each family. This is no single place to find them. cpu-world is the closest but is still missing tons of varients.
If you have any sources Id be glad to use them, but when i started to create these i had to goto a bunch of different places to find the data.
Thanks

One of the biggest problems I see with your idea is that you talk of giving everyone and anyone the power to edit.
This could lead to a lot of false information being put out there and then others taking that false information as verbatim which would lead to all the information being suspect.
just my humble opinion. _________________ The Older they are the Better they are. |

I had thought of that. I can up with two solutions to decrease that
First is its not a wiki website that anyone layman can edit. GIT takes a little knowhow, and more effort, so anyone willing to edit it this way will be less likely to be edited by stupid people. Not foolproof though
Second, the are 10 entries for each chip available for References.
Its not perfect, but there are erronious info on every site. And in theory, openness means more checkers for errors.

Well, there are not much new things in the first page, but new chips are added at least every months. It is more visible when you are registered.
(I now finished your registration procedure but there is a little issue with my provider or with DNS update I think (http://ayni81.x86-guide.com/ is not accessible)). _________________ Register on x86-guide.net to manage and share your collection on-line !
Need to find a x86 ? Go to http://www.x86-guide.net ! Over 12000 chips listed ! |

Awesome - thank you heaps! I don't have nearly as many as others here but keeping track will help immensely.
