I have my first C4004 on a nice board. Being a novice can anyone tell me how to decode what is on the lid? Obviously the I logo and C4004 on a nice gold lid. Number underneath is K6826

The C4004 is in a socket and I tried to pry it a little and it seems it will come out of socket easily if I need to see the underneath.

It won't have date code on the bottom, but will probably be marked Malaysia for country of manufacture.

K6826 would of been made late 3rd / early 4th quarter of 1974

Congrats! Some pics would be welcome so we could see the new Baby.

Be careful when prying out such a costly chip from the socket. You don't want to break a leg. Rolling Eyes

It is marked as "Mexico" Manufacturer - is that unusual? I could not resist popping it out of the socket for a quick peek.
