My PC has the i7 processor and I thought I was getting a quad core processor. In Win 7 Task Manager and MsCofig only reports a 1 core processor. What is this processor a 1 core or quad core?

Found this In Win Sys Report: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHZ 3392 MHZ 1 Core Logical Processor.

Is this a quad core processor or not. I paid for a quad core from HP.

I suspect a hardware goof.

Thanks

Check BIOS and make sure mult-core is enabled. Should have been from the factory, but sounds like it's not.

I did that, just says multi-processors are enabled as well as hyper threading.
On Belarc Advisor shows non of this being so. No cores listed and says no hyper threading.

I'm going to ship it back to HP.

Next you should try making sure the BIOS is the latest version available from HP. It could be an older production board that doesn't support that chip fully.

I wonder if you have the uniproc HAL installed instead of the multicore HAL.

U tried advanced boot settings in "msconfig" (Run...) ?
Procesor(s)/Maximum RAM, should be all unchcecked.
If they are not, uncheck them, and restart Your PC.

Thanks,
No, I did not try that. I sent this PC back to HP last week to let them sort it out.
