i love Motorola for their chips & CPUs but also hate them .. i think Motorola is the world champion by the number of unidentifiable chips _________________ https://www.facebook.com/CPUCollectionRO |

| Lids are just soldered there, so with some clever soldering you should get them back on well enough. I haven't tested that, though, and it may not look like it was before opening. |

| Just lay some blade on the chip on ground strip ready to get under the lid and heat with heat gun or torch until you can push your blade under the lid. You shouldn't scratch or break anything if you keep tip of that blade well on other side of the chip and don't let your blade lift on the lid to scratch it. As long as tip of blade is well on other side there isn't anything that could get into the die cavity to damage die or bond wires. |

Yes, looks familiar http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/680x/die/L_Motorola-MC6803.jpg
That's MC6803 or MC6805 microcontroller then with custom markings due to program written permanently in mask ROM.
I have also opened one and it's waiting for time at the scope. I might be interested in taking better pic of this one if my one is different smaller revision. |
