|
|
I'm continuing to look for a compatible cpu for an AM3+ board.
Previously I got the recommendation here for a 955 or 945.
I have the cpu world list and this item number:
http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Phenom%20II%20X4%20955%20-%20HDX955WFK4DGM.html
which does not specify Am3+ but only AM3. This distinction is important to me and so I wondered if there is an index of am3+ match cpus? The distinction is only important as getting something I ultimately cannot use
because of lack of description. Also pin count.
If I am getting something like this used I should have socket type listed as well as pin count.
How can I do this effectively? |

It was 955 or 965.
That was me who told you that.
You are better off looking at what your board can support than at an entire platform list.
I suggested those based on the quality of your board being used. I know it says it will support FX, but realistically, it isn't good enough.
Deneb or Thuban would serve you best in that board.
Price made a difference to you also iirc. Thubans are expensive, thus my suggestion.
Everything I mentioned will fit and run in your board. |

This is helpful. I was looking at an upgrade path but if that is no go
a 4 core running at 95 watt or less is adequate for my needs.
I had that page from CPU World on all the possibles for the MSI 760gma 34 (FX) specifically.
I see all Deneb rev C3 plus some others on those pages.
What is the Thuban?
Can you put a link in for that or how should I locate it?
I got the board as a 'tween solution' since it has video on it and I'm used to having video rather than try to know all video cards on the market.
MSI itself I find hard to deal with: black screens, difficult input procedures-- that's why I've come to CPU World. |
