Great article!
However, I wasn't aware, that 386's even was able to use cache? Were there ever any "native" 386 boards with cache? Or do I have it mixed up with internal cache, which didn't come until the 486 class processors? |

386 did indeed allow support for cache, and nicer motherboards had it.
Some even had 256K of cache
Here is one:

The 386SL added support for 16-64K of cache (reducing the amount of external chips needed to make the cache work)
Some non-Intel 386s DID have cache on die, the Cyrix, TI and IBM versions had 1-16K of L1 cache on die _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
