Seller exchanged photo at this listing. Marking looks quite genuine.
If is this fake, it's relatively well-done fake. |

It should be fake too - no ES after q-spec. |

Yes I think this is a fake too. Here is mine:
http://www.smithschips.com.au/Images/PentiumMMX/FV80503233Q140-bot-LG.jpg
Note the ES on mine, which is not on the listing one, plus on production FV Pentiums the voltage "V" is approx. under the "2" like his, whereas the Q ES have the "V" closer to the last digit. And what are the chances of having 10+ ES for sale... _________________ My former Intel collection:

Not a CPU, but I thought I should mention it here anyway.
Ebay seller: adeleparts2010
Purchased a MC68882FN16A, a Motorola FPU, supposedly as NOS, when I went to plug it into the system, my system totally freaked out when I tried to turn it on again, and the chip got so hot you could practically fry an egg on it. I popped the chip out as fast as I could. powered the system back up, and luckily it was not damaged.
Unfortunately, once I gave it some scrutiny, it was clearly a fake. The Motorola symbol that was being used was wrong. It wasn't used by Motorola during that time period. The part numbering, aside from the main identifier were odd compared to known authentic examples. When looked at closely the printing on the chip was also not clear, it was blurry, which I have never seen on a production Motorola chip from that era.
I subsequently purchased another MC68882FN16A from a very reputable seller, plugged it in, and it worked just as expected and my system was perfectly happy, so I know it was not the system.
Lesson learned. Buyer beware. |

adeleparts2010 is a fairly well known counterfeit vendor
Many parts are "refurbished", but sold as new. The tops are sanded off, blacktopped and re-marked.
They do sometimes work but are often remarked with a higher speed or different manufacturing process (eg cmos version is really nmos part). |

Funny is that noone left a negative feedback or even neutral. Everyone are happy and sing a song _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

Bad practics ... now I sold item to US for 110 EUR and eBay took 11 EUR, PayPal took ~ 8 EUR + additional tax charged by PayPal another 9 EUR. Total is 28 EUR fees what gives ~ 25% of final item value. I'm finishing selling to US sorry but that fees are ridicilous. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

I suspect most folks don't (or can't) test an 8008 and just wanted it for display.
Or by the time they've found out it is a fake they've already posted their positive feedback.
They're also very fast to refund if you make a claim.
Wonder if their 8284A's are legit, they also look remarked.

Stranger things have happened...
For years I shopped in a small electronics locally. They had 4 2A3 vacuum tubes up on the shelf in "International" boxes. International is a well known re-brander and I always assumed they'd be Chinese junk. One day I was bored and pulled them down. Three of the four were single plate RCA etched based 2A3's. Each had been re-printed with International's logo on the glass and the bases wrapped in black tape to hide the etching.
Sort of the equivalent of finding a 4004ES remarked as a P4004
