Hello everyone,
Last december I received my computer for christmas. Its a great computer in my eyes but I recently bought a product that needs an AMD Athlon processor 1.6 GHz or higher. Im good with computers but I have limited knowledge of CPU's. This is information about my CPU, I got it from EVEREST.
. Im not sure if this is enough information but this is what I was looking at buying, http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_techspecs_full.php/masterid=8571952. Im trying not to spend over about $120. If you need any more information let me know. Thanks a lot everyone.

Have you tried installing and running the software? If it is really intended for an AMD Athlon 1.6GHz or later, then it should work on a Sempron, which is faster and later than an Athlon 1.6

Sempron Socket-939 ??? I thought it wasn't released...

Your picture shows a 2000MHz cpu, so if you needed a 1600Mhz cpu, it is more than OK...(Athlon and Sempron are from the same family)

You're not going to gain anything by "upgrading" to Athlon 64 3000+. Your current processor - Sempron 3400+ - is about as fast as the Athlon 64 3000+.

Thanks for the help everyone. The program I was talking about is a Dazzle 90. The system requirments say the minimum requirments is an Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 1.6GHz or higher. I tried to use it and it doesnt work. I tried it on another computer with an AMD Athlon and it works perfectly. Someone suggested this CPU and im probably going to buy it.

Its much better than the CPU that I recommended earlier.

Where in the world did all of you get the idea that a Sempron is better and faster then any Athlon? Shocked

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Aaaaarg, again, I'm sorry to say but, your all wrong here! Just a simple Athlon1700 Kicks any Sempron ,any day ! Heck! Even my kids Athlon 1400 beats my friends Sempron 3200.

Ya ,if I were u, I'd change quickly to Athlon anything ! For an AMD Novice like myself, I hate to put it down like it is, but with over 5 1/2 years of building gamers now, I can only compare it to a Celery(Celeron)!

Note, why do you think the discontinued Sempron in such a hurry Rolling Eyes

Impossible ...

No body said that Sempron with same clock in same generation is faster than Athlon.

I think Debs thought about Athlon XP 1900+ Palomino (1,6 GHz) which (I can risk) is slower than lowest model of Sempron - 2200+ 1,5 GHz. That Sempron have faster FSB and more additional instructions. Have better OC potencial.

Celerons are comparatible with Semprons at 1 Ghz higher clock.

Sorry for language mistakes but I haven't dictionary at work;)

I don't understand something. That program use some insctructions which have Athlon but not have Sempron ? Or what is other explanation ? Software producer recommend Athlon 1,6 or later but Sempron 64 have all what have Athlon XP 1900+. I give up Sad

What exactly happens when you run it? Does it crash?

I start up Studio 9 and it runs fine, but when I try to record something with Studio 9 the preview screen turns black and has green lines through it. All I can hear is static and gargled sound but I cant even record that.

Majority of computer problems these days has nothing to do with CPU incompatibility. These problems are usually caused by bad drivers or software, or incorrect configuration of motherboard or peripheral devices. There's very big chance that upgrading to faster processor won't solve your problem.

Oh, yeah, back to your problem. See if any of these recommendations work for you:
