Has anyone seen this chip before in a finished or unfinished state? I suspect it may be related to some IDT cpus i have but by no means am i sure, i have never seen another one around like it yet. I put it next to a 386 for comparison of size,

it is a PROM (or EPROM)

so would that be called a flash prom in a flat package? The ones that get flashed by UV light to erase?

don't call it a flash prom (as thats another technology)

It is a EPROM (if covered in quartz, or a PROM, if a metal cap (they are the same die)

Cool to know thanks , heh heh i thought maybe the caps were on them to prevent them being exposed to sunlight or somthing Very Happy
