|
|
Wanting to upgrade the processor on the ASUS A7V-ML. Yes, I know, it' OEM, but I want it to run a little faster before I sell it. I have found two that I believe will work but I just want to make sure:
Original CPU: AMD DURON 900
AMD DURON 1300
AMD ATHLON 1300
The Duron is newer but which one is better? Also, will this board run any faster processors? Finally, the board supports only up to 512mb of ram (and can take a single 512 stick), right?
Thanks,
Ken |

Here you can find your best option about the CPU
http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=A7V-M
Athlon processor is better than the Duron
about the ram
your MB support 1GB of ram (512mbx2) but the modules must be double faced, with the chip on the two faces of the modules, otherwise with modules single faces you can install only 512mb (256mbx2)max. |

| You mean double-sided, right? Also, that link is for the 'm' not the 'ml'. |

Yes, double sided memory modules (sorry for my bad english)
on the ASUS site there isn't the "ml" version but only "m", I thing there is a minor difference like l=build with LAN and not big difference like l=a different chipset! |
