Hi i have an Aorus 15 X9 with a i7-8750H as CPU. It is a compatible upgrade from this cpu to a I9-9980HK? It will work and run? Chipset: Intel HM370. Yeah, i know , its soldered, its's not an easy game. I don't want to do this by my hands, i want to buy or contract a service from a specialized technical service to do this. If it is possible, what kind of service i have to ask? Do I need a bios upgrade/update?

thanks

Possible in theory if the board's BIOS has the microcode and power delivery needed for the 9980HK.
After sourcing parts and labor, it may cost about as much as a new laptop with said CPU, so your mileage may vary.

If you don't want to do this with your own hands, does that mean everything is outsourced to a service? Such as the BIOS modification to add the appropriate microcode, and possibly testing it to verify that it actually works, etc?

Extract the BIOS image from the BIOS chip, or alternatively, download the BIOS image from Gigabyte/Aorus. If the BIOS image's microcode data isn't compressed, you should be able to read it with platomav's MC Extractor.

The output from MC Extractor will be very barebones, but it's sufficient for your situation as you simply need to check if there's an entry for CPUID 906ED. That is the microcode required for a Core i9-9980HK to run, but be aware that the platform ID must match as well (I'm not sure which is the right platform ID, so please don't ask me for it).

Thanks people but the cpuid is 906ea. But...gigabyte released the aorus 15 xa with a bios that comes with the 906ed( even I saw the cpuids and it includes 906ea, not cpuid are the same platform). The question is, is it possible add the microcode from that bios?

Yes.

Via hex editors or a tool that is able to add the microcode without much work, such as MMTool.

I can't offer much help regarding this as your Aorus 15 has an AMI Aptio UEFI image, so you're on your own if you're planning to do the modification by yourself.

Your CPU is soldered to the motherboard. In most cases it will be cheaper to buy a new laptop than attempt to upgrade it.

If you still want to pursue upgrades, you'd need to know the exact model of CPU and what your system is.

You have three choices:
[1] Core i7-640M, SLBTN
[2] Core i7-620M, SLBTQ/SLBPD
[3] Core i5-580M, SLC28

These are the fastest dual-core processors available for Socket G1, which is what your Satellite U500 has. If the Core i7-640M is too expensive, you should look for a Core i5-580M or a i7-620M.

The Core i7-720QM and the other quad-core processors might not work in a Satellite U500. From my perspective, it seems very unlikely for it to work with a quad-core. I've never seen a factory configuration featuring any of them either.

Flash the BIOS to the most recent version, which should be v1.90: https://content.us.dynabook.com/content/support/downloads/su9bv190.exe

Disassemble it if you haven't, and if you don't know how to: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-U505-U500-U505D/disassemble-laptop-base-1.htm

Once you have gotten access to the motherboard, the heatsink should be removable. It's held down by 4 screws as far as I know, which shouldn't be too difficult to remove.

I would also suggest re-applying the thermal paste on the GPU and the CPU as well.

Calbris,i am very grateful to you for your help !
I downloaded a new bios from your link.During installation, there was a problem. I double-click on the exe file. The program is installed on the C drive. Then a menu with three items appears.

https://ibb.co/7knyXkz
https://ibb.co/GQhTsRs
1 installation with cd-rom
2 installation using windows
3 instruction.
I select item 2 using Windows, then the command line appears and nothing happens.https://ibb.co/CnSJM2G
I left it in this position for 1 hour and nothing happens.
then I decided to try point 1 - with the help of cd-ROM and a blue screen appeared, the laptop rebooted and now the BIOS program does not start and gives an error.
